Look for "tooltip" icons like this one: 
The icon will have some associated text. On most browsers, you can
access the text by moving your mouse over the icon and waiting for a
brief moment. The browser will pop up a little "tooltip" style text
window. Just move your mouse away from the icon to dismiss the
window.
If anybody out there is seriously using a browser that shows only the
text, and never shows the icon (such as lynx), please let me know.
I'll come up with some way to make it work better for you.
