Your people live on planets.
Each planet is different, and some are more valuable than others. You
can learn a lot about a planet by looking at its attributes on the
planet summary page.
Each planet has several attributes that affect its value to your
empire. Click an attribute name from the planet summary page to learn
more about that attribute.
The most important thing to know about a planet is its
Base Production
value. It will look something like this:
Base Production: 10
The number, 10, above, indicates that the planet can produce 10 units
of industrial production per turn without any technical innovation!
In general, this planet could construct 10 new ships every turn if it
concentrated all of its resources on doing so.
Some planetary attributes have two numbers, like this:
Production X: 0.9/1.1
The first number is the current value of this attribute. It reflects
the actual industrial/economic infrastructure of the planet in
question. The second number, after the /, indicates how good the
planet could be, if the people implemented all of the
necessary industrial/economic changes to achieve the new value.
In general, the second number increases when the people on the planet
make new scientific discoveries, and the first number increases when
you order them to improve their planetary infrastructure to the level
of their current state-of-the-art technology.
